Simple Event Manager is a user-friendly WordPress plugin that simplifies the management
and display of events on your website. With this plugin, you can easily create, 
edit, and organize events without any coding knowledge. It offers an intuitive interface
and numerous features to manage your events efficiently and display them attractively.

**Key Features:**

 * **Create and manage events:** Add new events with details such as date, time,
   location, and description.
 * **Recurring events:** Create up to 100 independent daily, weekly, or monthly 
   copies from saved event data.
 * **Categories:** Organize your events into categories for better structure and
   filtering.

   single-event layouts under «Events» > «Design».

   block themes retain Site Editor templates and receive the same event metadata.

   sizes.

### Usage

 * **Add Events:** Go to «Events» > «New Event» in the WordPress dashboard to create
   a new event.
 * **Use Shortcode:** Insert the shortcode `[simevema_events_overview]` on a page
   or post to display the event overview. You can use `category`, `show_image`, `
   future`, `show_category`, and `per_page` to control the display.
 * **Adjust Settings:** Open «Events» > «Design» to customize colors, spacing, typography
   and responsive layouts. Empty fields restore their documented defaults; invalid
   values are replaced with a safe value and reported by WordPress.
 * **Choose data retention:** Under «Events» > «Settings», decide whether plugin
   data should be permanently removed when the plugin is deleted. Data is retained
   by default.

#### Shortcode examples

Insert `[simevema_events_overview]` into a Shortcode block, the classic editor, 
or a shortcode element provided by your page builder. This displays the overview
and its filter form.

To show upcoming concerts with featured images:

    ```
    [simevema_events_overview category="concerts" future="true" show_image="true"]
    ```

Available attributes:

 * `category="concerts,jazz"`: Limit the overview to these category slugs and their
   descendants. Leave empty to allow all categories. Existing category names are
   also resolved, but slugs are recommended.
 * `future="true"`: Show events dated today or later in the website timezone. Default:`
   false`. Events earlier today remain included.
 * `show_image="true"`: Display featured images. Default: `false`.
 * `show_category="false"`: Hide the category names on event cards. Default: `true`.
   The category filter remains available.
 * `per_page="12"`: Set the number of events per page. The default is `12`; accepted
   values are `1` to `100`.

Use `true` or `false` for boolean attributes; `1` and `0` are also accepted.

#### Filter behavior

The shortcode defines the base selection. The visitor’s search, category, exact 
location and inclusive date range narrow that selection. Selecting an earlier start
date cannot override `future="true"`. Parent categories include their descendants,
including when a child category is selected in the form.

Initial page loading, ordinary GET submission without JavaScript and AJAX filtering
share the same query and event-card renderer. The search covers event text using
WordPress search. Only published events without password protection appear in the
public overview and location choices.

Pagination follows the same behavior. With JavaScript enabled, only the selected
overview is updated. Without JavaScript, the owning GET form submits the requested
page normally. Changing a filter starts again on page one.

You can add multiple overviews to one page. Each form has unique field IDs and updates
its own overview. Without JavaScript, submitting a form reloads the page and applies
the submitted filters to that overview; other overviews return to their shortcode
defaults. Existing filter URLs without an overview identifier continue to apply 
to all overviews.
