WPeMatico is really a great tool for automating RSS feeds and reposting content. I recommend!

Superb plugin!! We were being sent numerous every articles day to publish on our website. It became overwhelming. An agency suggested WPeMatico as a way of pulling down their content without the heavy workload of reviewing and posting manually. We were skeptical, but tried it. Now, there's no going back. We have expanded its use on our site, allowing us to focus on local matters. WPeMatico delivers exactly as it promises. Includes a large number of features that cover nearly every contingency. We love it, and strongly recommend it for anyone looking for help pulling and displaying rss feed content on your site.

2.9 – Oct 8, 2026

Major Version 2.9 renews the whole interface and lays the foundations for 3.0: a Dashboard to switch every feature on and off, a Settings screen that explains every option, new tools to inspect feeds and to move in from other plugins, and WPeMatico in eleven languages together with all its extensions.
Recommended to test it in a staging environment before updating production websites, and to update your WPeMatico add-ons first (see below).

New features:

  • A Dashboard for every feature.
One card per feature, grouped by what it does (Images, SEO, Campaign Types, Content Parsers, Third party…). Each card says what its switch will do before you touch it, installs the free plugins it needs from WordPress.org, starts an add-on you already own, and reads the very same setting as the checkbox on the Settings screen.

  • New campaign type: Vimeo.
Publish the videos of a Vimeo user, channel or group: paste the address and the campaign finds its feed on its own. Each post gets the title, the thumbnail, the player and the description, with the thumbnail stored in the Media Library and ready to be the featured image. Formerly a paid add-on, now part of WPeMatico; switch it on from its card in the Dashboard.

  • Migration Toolkit: move in from Feedzy RSS Feeds and WP RSS Aggregator.
Imports their feeds as WPeMatico campaigns, with their filters, fallback images, translations and rewrites carried to the matching add-on, and adopts the posts they already published so nothing is published twice. Pages that embed WP RSS Aggregator displays get their shortcode swapped with one click. It stays off until you need it, and WPeMatico lets you know when it finds something to import.

  • WPeMatico speaks eleven languages, and so does every extension.
Spanish with its eleven regional variants, German, French, Dutch, Greek, Persian, Russian, Slovak, Romanian, Arabic and Chinese: every screen, tooltip, Help tab and campaign log line, for the plugin and for all fifteen extensions.

  • Two dashboard widgets.
WPeMatico Summary opens with posts today, active campaigns, next run and posts all time, over a seven-day chart, with the detail behind three tabs: Recent, Up next and Needs a look. WPeMatico News brings the latest from the blog, cached so it never slows your dashboard down.

  • Feed List and Feed Viewer in Tools.
Feed List shows every feed of every campaign in a native WordPress list, with search, sorting and paging. Feed Viewer inspects any address and tells you what came back: a feed and its items, a page that is not a feed, or the reason it could not be reached.

  • Guided tours.
The first time you open each WPeMatico screen, a short tour shows where everything is and what to do first. Skip it, end it, or turn the tours off for your user, and replay any of them from the Help tab.

Enhancements:

  • WPeMatico has its own menu.
Dashboard, Campaigns, Settings, Tools and Extensions sit together under the WPeMatico entry of the admin menu.

  • Every setting says what it does.
A short name for each option, one or two sentences on what turning it on changes, and the full detail in the Help tab of each screen. Settings is split into sections, keeps you in the section you saved, and each extension has its own tab with its own sidebar.

  • Campaigns list: Quick Edit and Bulk Edit on one screen.
Quick Edit fits in a third of the space and writes only what its form shows. Bulk Edit sets post type, status, post format and the campaign options on many campaigns at once, and every field starts at — No change —, so only what you pick is applied. The campaign type filter narrows the list to that type.

  • Campaign Preview works on every campaign type, lists exactly the items the next run will publish, and leaves paid rewriting services alone: the text is rewritten once, when the post is published.

  • XML campaigns read sitemaps, Atom files and any namespaced XML, and an unreadable file is reported in the campaign log.

  • System Status opens instantly and tells the truth.
The connection test runs once the page is up, the checks follow what WPeMatico really requires, the hosting provider is recognised (WP Engine, Kinsta, SiteGround, Cloudways, Local and more), and a new check names the HTML Tidy builds that break imported text.

  • Add-Ons page.
The free add-ons install from WordPress.org right there, every membership is listed, search narrows the list as you type, every bulk action reports its result, and the page opens in seconds even when the store is slow to answer.

  • Add-ons update after WPeMatico, never before it, and every screen that shows an update says why one is waiting: the licence state, with a renewal link that carries your key, or the WPeMatico update that has to go first. Turning an add-on’s automatic updates on turns WPeMatico’s on too.

  • Campaign settings belong to their add-on. Editing a campaign while an add-on is deactivated keeps every setting that add-on stored, ready for when it comes back.

  • «Delete all data» leaves nothing behind: every option and cached value WPeMatico owns, licence keys included. Your licences stay active in your account at the store.

  • About and Getting Started rewritten for 2.9, with Getting Started taking you to a running campaign in three steps.

  • Various UI/UX improvements throughout: vector logo, one colour scheme for the Settings menu, list tables that follow WordPress 7, readable System Status tables.

  • Tested with WordPress 7.1 to ensure full compatibility.

For developers:

  • Campaign types live one per file under includes/campaign-types/, built only on the public hooks. A type whose source is a feed declares itself in wpematico_rss_campaign_types and inherits the whole standard fetch; wpematico_custom_simplepie works on its own for the rest.
  • Modules: register a Dashboard card with the wpematico_modules filter; option or pro_option bind the card to a setting.
  • Campaign fields: wpematico_campaign_addon_fields (pro_check_campaigndata keeps firing), wpematico_check_campaigndata takes a $strict argument for saving, and WPeMatico::update_campaign() keeps stored fields unless $replace is passed.
  • New filters: wpematico_post_parent, wpematico_create_autocat, wpematico_blocked_insert_count, wpematico_fetch_posts_summary, wpematico_campaign_count_column, wpematico_campaign_count_row_meta_keys, wpematico_sidebar_widgets, wpematico_settings_widgets, wpematico_vimeo_metabox_options, wpematico_get_host, wpematico_addons_feed_timeout. wpematico_allow_insertpost also receives the feed item, and wpematico_is_previewing_item() tells an extension that the item is going to the screen and not to the database.

Recent (may break) changes:

  • NOTE: WPeMatico 2.9 needs the add-on versions released with it. Update your add-ons before updating WPeMatico: Professional 3.7, Full Content 2.9.4, Better Excerpts 3.6, Custom Hooks 1.4, Exporter 1.6, Facebook Fetcher 3.4, GPT Spinner 3.5.2, Make me Feed Good 2.13, Manual Fetching 1.2, Office Campaign Type 1.6, Polyglot 1.7, Polylang 1.1.2, Publish 2 Email 1.6, RSS Feed Reader 2.0.0 and Synchronizer 2.3. They also run on WPeMatico 2.8.27. An older add-on stays active, with its licence screen and its update button, and its features resume as soon as it is updated.
  • NOTE2: The WPeMatico screens moved to their own menu, so bookmarks to its Settings or Tools pages need saving again.
  • NOTE3: The plugin files moved from app/ to includes/ and assets/. Custom code that loads a WPeMatico file by its path needs the new one.

2.8.27 – Sep 22, 2026

Recommended security update for all users.

  • Improved: A feed that answers with a redirect is now read from the address it points to only when that address is one a feed may live on, the same rule the address stored in the campaign goes through. Feeds that move to another address, to https:// or to a syndication service keep working exactly as before, and the campaign log names the address it stopped at when one of them leads somewhere a feed cannot be fetched from.
  • Improved: The addresses a feed may not live on now also cover the ranges reserved for documentation, benchmarking and network transition, and the IPv6 forms that stand for an IPv4 address. Sites that read feeds from their own network keep doing so with the «Allow feeds on private and local addresses» option in WPeMatico > Tools > Danger Zone, or one feed at a time with the wpematico_allow_internal_feeds filter.
  • Improved: Feeds published by this same site are fetched with no configuration, as before, on the addresses a site answers on.
  • Improved: The post type a campaign publishes to is now stored in the one spelling WordPress registers it under, so the post status, the post author and the markup an imported post keeps are always settled against that type and the rights of the user saving the campaign. Bulk editing campaigns follows the same rule as editing one. Campaigns edited by administrators and editors keep working exactly as before.
  • Improved: Feed addresses are resolved once per host and per run, so a campaign with several feeds on the same site, and a multipage feed, do less work than before.

2.8.26 – Sep 14, 2026

Recommended security update for all users.
Please note a change when editing campaigns: the post status and the post author a campaign assigns are now saved as the user editing it is entitled to set them. A user who cannot publish posts saves the campaign with «Pending review», and a user who cannot assign posts to other users saves it under their own name; both are reported on screen right after saving. The same applies to how much of the feed markup is kept. Campaigns edited by administrators and editors keep working exactly as before.

  • Improved: Campaigns fetch feeds published on the public internet. Sites that read feeds from their own network, from an intranet server or from localhost can allow it with the new «Allow feeds on private and local addresses» option in WPeMatico > Tools > Danger Zone. Feeds hosted on this same site keep working with no configuration needed.
  • Improved: Feed addresses are now checked before every fetch, so a feed address that is not a valid http:// or https:// URL is reported clearly in the campaign log instead of failing later with a confusing parser message.
  • New: New wpematico_allow_internal_feeds filter, to allow one particular feed on a private address without turning on the site-wide option.
  • Improved: Opening a campaign’s run log or its preview now checks that you are allowed to work with that campaign, and the links to both screens are tied to the campaign they were created for. The «See Log» action in the campaigns list is shown only to users who can open the campaign.
  • Improved: The item preview and the XML node reader follow the same rule: the item preview is served to users who can edit the campaign it belongs to, and reading an XML source to list its nodes requires the rights to create campaigns.
  • Improved: Imported content keeps the markup the feed sends, embeds included, for campaigns edited by a user entitled to post unfiltered HTML, which is the case for administrators and editors. A campaign last edited by a user without that right imports its content filtered the same way WordPress filters that user’s own posts, and says so on screen when the campaign is saved. Campaigns created before this release keep importing content exactly as they did.
  • Fixed: The content filter WordPress applies when saving a post is now restored right after each imported post is inserted, and only when it was in place to begin with. A manual run no longer leaves a filter behind that the user it belongs to never had, so nothing else saved during the same request is affected by how a campaign imports its content.
  • Improved: A campaign now records the post status and the post author that the user editing it is entitled to choose: a user who cannot publish gets «Pending review», and a user who cannot assign posts to other people is recorded as the author. Both are reported on screen when they happen, and administrators and editors work exactly as before.
  • Improved: The «Word to Category» field is escaped when a campaign is reopened, so a word or a regular expression that contains markup is shown exactly as it was typed. Regular expressions keep matching as before: the value is stored untouched and only its display changes. Words also appear escaped in the campaign log and in the RegEx validation message.
  • Improved: The campaign and item previews escape everything they display, so a feed that carries unusual markup is shown as text instead of being applied to the preview page. Regular feed content — formatting, images, links, lists, tables and video embeds — keeps rendering as before, and the tag list can be extended with the new wpematico_preview_item_allowed_html filter.

2.8.25 – Aug 15, 2026

Recommended security update for all users.

  • Security: Hardened permission checks on the plugin settings, tools and system status screens. Importing and exporting settings, saving the plugin settings, the Danger Zone options and the system information download now verify the current user’s capability, in addition to the existing security nonce validation.
  • Security: WPeMatico internal actions now require the capability that matches the action being run. Add-ons can declare the capability their own actions need through the new wpematico_action_capability filter.
  • Security: Importing a settings file now only restores options belonging to WPeMatico and its active add-ons, and rejects files that are not a valid settings export. The list can be extended with the new wpematico_importable_option_keys filter.
  • Improved: Clearer, translatable messages when an action is not permitted.

2.8.24 – Aug 6, 2026

Recommended update for all users — performance and stability improvements, especially on installations with a large number of campaigns.

  • Fixed: Fixes a fatal error that could break a site on installations with a lot of campaigns. Campaign data is no longer read on every page request, which also lowers memory usage and speeds up the whole site, front end included.
  • Improved: Campaign logs are now capped at the last 10 runs per campaign when «Activate Debug Logs in Campaigns» is enabled, keeping the database lean.
  • New: Campaigns now report when a run was interrupted by the server — «Timed out after N sec.» in the campaigns list and in the campaign control panel — so an incomplete run is easy to spot at a glance.
  • Improved: The «Clear campaign» action is now available in the campaigns list hover menu while a campaign is running, next to the existing button in the Current State column.
  • Improved: «Clear campaign» now reports the real duration of the interrupted run in the Last run column.
  • Improved: Polished the Last run column and the dashboard widget display after an interrupted run.
  • Fixed: Multipage feeds (Professional’s «Check to use as a multipage feed») no longer repeat the same post several times when the source website ignores the pagination parameter. Repeated items are detected and discarded, so the campaign imports one post per real item and its max items quota is spent on new content only.
  • Improved: Multipage feeds now stop requesting further pages as soon as a page brings nothing new, and report it in the campaign log — fewer requests to the source and a clear hint when a site does not really paginate.
  • Improved: Removed the «Fetching multiple feeds with single SimplePie instance is deprecated» notice from the campaign log on multipage feeds, and made the feature ready for future WordPress versions where that old mode will be gone.
  • Fixed: PHP 8.4 compatibility — the plugin no longer fills the server error log with «Constant E_STRICT is deprecated» notices when opening the System Status page, exporting the system report, or while a campaign or a feed preview is running.

2.8.23 – Aug 3, 2026

Recommended security update for all users. Tested up to WordPress 7.1.

  • Security: Hardened permission checks on campaign actions (run now, copy, activate/deactivate, reset, delete hashes and clear/break). Each action now verifies the current user’s capability on the target campaign, in addition to the existing security nonce validation.
  • Fixed: PHP 8.1 warning («attempt to read property on null») when copying a campaign whose original could not be found.
  • Improved: Confirmed compatibility with WordPress 7.1.

2.8.22 – June 29, 2026

Recommended update for all users — fixes rare duplicate posts and stuck «running» campaigns, especially on busy sites with many campaigns or addons (GPT Spinner, Professional, Full Content).

  • Fixed: Eliminated rare duplicate published posts caused by overlapping cron passes re-taking a campaign that was still being processed. Each campaign is now claimed at the start of its run and its next run is scheduled immediately, so a concurrent cron pass can no longer fetch the same items twice.
  • Fixed: Campaigns no longer freeze for several minutes when a source image is broken or unresponsive. Image downloads now give up quickly and move on, while audio and video keep a longer allowance so large media still downloads completely.
  • Improved: When several campaigns share the same schedule, they now run in a fair order — the most overdue first — so no campaign keeps getting skipped while slower ones run. A campaign that is still running is reliably skipped instead of being started a second time.
  • Improved: The «Running» indicator in the campaigns list, editor and dashboard now reflects the real run state during scheduled (cron) runs, not only manual runs. Orphaned locks left by an interrupted run (timeout, out-of-memory) auto-clear after the «Timeout running campaign» setting, or can be released manually with «Clear/Break Campaign».
  • Improved: A manual run is now blocked with a clear message while the same campaign is already running.
  • Fixed: Closed another rare source of duplicate posts — if a run was interrupted (timeout or out-of-memory) after a post was inserted but before it was recorded as fetched (most likely during heavy per-item image processing), the next run could re-insert it. Items are now recorded as fetched before that heavy work, so an interrupted run can no longer create a duplicate.
  • Fixed: The «Professional add-on is out of date» admin notice no longer shows leftover script code as plain text. The highlight effect was removed so the notice now reads cleanly.
  • External: The Full Content add-on no longer stalls a campaign when a source’s featured or social image is slow or unreachable — it now times out quickly and continues, keeping your scheduled runs flowing.
  • Important: WPeMatico Professional 3.6 or higher is now required. Earlier Professional versions could stall scheduled runs when «Draw post title on featured image» was enabled. Please update the Professional add-on after updating the core.

2.8.21 – June 13, 2026

Recommended update for all users — essential for users running WPeMatico addons (GPT Spinner, Professional, FullContent, or others).

  • Fixed: Campaign data integrity during upgrades is now fully guaranteed — all per-campaign addon settings are preserved correctly across updates, regardless of which addons are active.
  • Improved: The upgrade migration system has been redesigned to handle version-skipping gracefully. Users who update from older releases directly to a newer version now receive all intermediate migrations in the correct order, without data loss.
  • Note: Some users who upgraded to 2.8.20 while running addons may have seen addon settings revert to defaults in their campaigns. This release resolves the underlying cause. If you were affected, our support team is ready to help — visit etruel.com/my-account/support/ and we’ll get you sorted quickly.

2.8.20 – June 10, 2026

Reliability scheduling update for non-UTC WordPress timezone users — recommended for everyone.

⚠️ Addon version requirements updated: This release requires WPeMatico Professional 3.5 or higher and GPT Spinner 3.5.1 or higher. If you use either addon, update them alongside this release to ensure full compatibility. Older addon versions will trigger an admin notice asking you to upgrade.

  • Improved: Debug logging now works correctly during automatic campaign runs. Previously, log messages generated by addons while campaigns ran in the background were silently discarded on many server configurations. They are now captured reliably, making it much easier to track what your campaigns are doing and diagnose any issues — even without opening the WordPress admin.
  • Improved: Compatibility requirements updated to match current addon versions, ensuring a smooth and fully supported experience for users running WPeMatico Professional and GPT Spinner alongside this release.
  • Fixed: Campaign scheduling could fire at incorrect times, run too frequently, or stop running entirely on servers whose PHP timezone differs from the WordPress timezone setting. The most common symptom was campaigns that appeared active but simply never ran automatically. All internal timestamps are now stored and compared as real UTC, eliminating the mismatch.
  • Fixed: «Last Run» and «Next Run» dates in the campaign list and campaign edit screen now consistently display in the WordPress-configured timezone, regardless of the server’s PHP timezone.
  • Fixed: The admin bar clock in the campaigns list now shows time in the WordPress timezone instead of the browser’s local timezone, so it matches the dates displayed in the table.
  • Fixed: Item date filtering during feed fetch used inconsistent time sources, which could cause valid items to be skipped on sites with a non-UTC WordPress timezone.
  • Improved: On update from 2.8.19 or earlier, existing campaign timestamps are automatically updated so all schedules stay correct after upgrading.

2.8.19 – May 29, 2026

Urgent Scheduling bug fix.
* Fixed: Campaigns stopped running automatically after updating to 2.8.17. Users with the «Use Alternate WP Cron» or «Disable WPeMatico schedulings» options enabled in WPeMatico Settings were most affected — scheduled campaigns would only run if triggered manually.
* Fixed: PHP notice logged on some sites during plugin load, related to cron schedule registration.
* Fixed: PHP deprecation notice on PHP 8.1+ when displaying admin notifications for the first time.

2.8.18 – May 28, 2026

Security fix and stability improvements.
* Fixed: Reflected XSS vulnerability in the Feed Viewer tool — HTTP response headers are now properly escaped before output. Thanks to the responsible disclosure report.
