WordPress Zero Spam

Why force users to prove that they’re humans by filling out captchas? Let bots prove they’re not bots with the WordPress Zero Spam plugin.

I have previously been a big fan of this plugin. However, today I had a very busy client contact me frantically because their site was down. There was a technical error that prevented any page on the website from loading, and the admin area was inaccessible. Thankfully, the new built-in feature from WordPress alerts us to the problem by email and even provides the error data on the plugin that caused the error. In this case, it was this plugin. Removing the plugin fixes the problem and the site is operating fine again. Here is the error information: Error Details ============= An error of type E_ERROR was caused in line 54 of the file /home/copasoaps/public_html/wp-content/plugins/zero-spam/zero-spam.php. Error message: Uncaught LogicException: Function 'zerospam_autoloader' not found (function 'zerospam_autoloader' not found or invalid function name) in /home/copasoaps/public_html/wp-content/plugins/zero-spam/zero-spam.php:54 Stack trace: #0 /home/copasoaps/public_html/wp-content/plugins/zero-spam/zero-spam.php(54): spl_autoload_register('zerospam_autolo...') #1 /home/copasoaps/public_html/wp-settings.php(371): include_once('/home/copasoaps...') #2 /home/copasoaps/public_html/wp-config.php(92): require_once('/home/copasoaps...') #3 /home/copasoaps/public_html/wp-load.php(37): require_once('/home/copasoaps...') #4 /home/copasoaps/public_html/wp-admin/admin-ajax.php(22): require_once('/home/copasoaps...') #5 {main} thrown

I have been using this plugin for contact form 7 on a few sites for several months and it works great.

I installed this on a client site, and I was pleased that it actually stopped the thousands of incoming spam messages. That's great. BUT then I got word from the client that people weren't able to post comments at all. Disabling the plugin allowed comments to get posted again. It doesn't do a lot of good to block spam if you're also blocking legitimate content. We are still looking for a solution that blocks spam and allows legitimate content to go through.
